The New Panama Limited

A few years ago I had an idea. I watched a guitar player working with a tuba player in Hamilton, Ontario and really enjoyed it, and not long after watched another guy do a show with a drummer playing just a snare and hi-hat on a YouTube video. Hmmm, I said to myself, I think that’s just what I am looking for, and that was the birth of The New Panama Limited.

I actually found a tuba player, David Herrington, originally from the UK, who was not only capable, he really enjoyed the sounds we made as much as I did.
From there it was a natural move to incorporate my guitar player, David Gwynn, who hails from California,

and convince my drummer, Quique Villafañe, originally from Argentina, to leave three quarters of his kit at home.
We did some gigging, made a couple of videos and I started a not very successful GoFundMe campaign to record a CD.
Some three years later, in the middle of a pandemic, we did it. I had envisioned a live recording with an audience, impossible in quarantine, so the engineer, Jose Maria Rosillo, was the only audience.

The result, Nowhere To Go But Up, is now a reality, a live recording with minimal overdubbing, and I only hope you like it as much as we do.
